10/2025 thoughts: This is just one of the many posts we made to promote the event for 2023. This was the first time Zahra asked me to help her with the auction outside of just standing in her place when she needed to run an errand, and I actually got to help promote and organize the Auction. This would quickly become one of my favorite things to do outside of Baronial stuff at the time!

10/2025 thoughts: This was the first time I tried to make flyers to help advertise Aquaterra’s public demo – Ursulmas. I had not previously really gotten involved in this event beyond attending as Head of Retinue and helping at Gate, so this was my first foray into promoting something this huge. It was also my first time playing with QR codes which have become a staple of my promotional materials since! This was also the year I organized us doing the Snohomish Winter Solstice Walk in Garb, which has become a little annual tradition for about 20 of us now!

10/2025 thoughts: This is just a copy of the Kingdom Calendar information by the end of the event, since I had learned to make multiple promotional posts about each of the things going on to keep the momentum going, so I never made one big promotional post like I had in 2022

Banner War is held at the Masonic Family Park. There is a physical gate barring access to the site, that is quite a distance from the site itself. When there is not someone available at this gate – you cannot reenter the park if you choose to leave until the gate opens again the next morning. Do not attempt to open or otherwise subvert this gate, or you will be immediately banned from this park forthgoing.
This gate is closed at 10 pm on Friday, reopens at 7 am Saturday morning
It closes at 9pm on Saturday, reopening at 7 on Sunday morning.

House Hrafensheim is hoping to make Sunday pack out a bit easier. Sunday morning from 8:00 to 10:00 AM we will be putting on a no cost pancake breakfast. The entire site is welcome. Their Excellencies will be visiting campsites throughout the weekend! As they come by, put all your best efforts on display! Welcome them into your camp warmly, and with all the SCAdian you can muster! The camps that put show the most/best hospitality to their Excellencies will be awarded War Points at the discretion of the coronets! Bring your A+ snack and hydration game! Sing them a song! Tell them a story! Be the host(ess) with the most(ess)!
TENT DECORATING CONTEST
There will also be War Points for those who go all out with their encampments! Extra points for historical accuracy, but it is not a necessity to enter! Go all out! Pick a theme! Or don’t, just make it interesting! Everyone can participate to their own ability! Show us your creativity!
GAMES
There will be both a Youth and an Adult Bocce Ball Tournament for War Points on Saturday. Other medieval games will be available at the Games Pavilion throughout the weekend as well for casual play.
BARDIC
There will be a Vox off in the Merchant Area on Saturday. Come one, come all, bring your loudest voice! Can you make yourself heard from Miles Around? Come prove it to us for a War Point!
Our Bardic Champion is sponsoring a Bardic contest at 4pm on Saturday. Theme: War. Bring your best War tales, poems, songs or other bardic performances.
RAPIER
There will be Ship to Ship Boarding Action! There will be Plank Battles! There will be a Pirates Treasure Chest!
Timed or Resurrection Battles depending on the number of participants! Bring your best Death Scenes for extra flair!
ARCHERY
Archers to the Line! Bring a friend or make one at the range, as this years event is shot as teams of two! With this years targets, brush up on Heraldic colors, play Foxes and Geese (archery style), and more.
THROWN WEAPONS
1-Teaching a newbie: Pick someone who has never thrown before and teach them on the range, their score is yours. Highest points win, 1 war point to student and 1 to teacher. 2-Novelty throw its a mystery 2 war points possible
HEAVY ARMOR
Scenarios:
1-Open field grand melee to warm up before hiking into the woods
2-Woods Battle. Unlimited resurrection for 5min at which point last life will be called
3-Advance the flag. Have your warband bring a flag for a bearer to advance unto victory.
4-King of the hill done in four man squads for approximately 30 minutes. The squad with the most wins takes the scenario
YOUTH ARMORED COMBAT
Youth combatants ages 6 to 17 are welcome to fight in a round robin tournament by firelight, Saturday night at 7 pm Youth should come dressed in armor and ready for inspection.
When youth fighters are in a match with someone in a division under them, they will be required to take a handicap.
Authorization is required to compete and loaner amour will be available. Youth needing to borrow armor or get authorized should contact me via email at Redsonia21@gmail.com asap
A&S CONTEST
Please enter the item you made that you are most proud of having created. Categories are: Novice – Less than 5 years experience. (Example, just learned to embroider) Intermediate – 5 to 10 years experience. (Example, Sewing an Elizabethan outfit for the first time after making T-Tunics for 5 or more years.) Expert – 10 plus years. (Example, Can design the patterns for embellishment you free handed from Norse to Elizabethan.) There will also be a Largesse competition voted on by popular vote. You will need to have 6 items handmade to enter in this competition.
CULINARY COMPETITION
For the culinary competition, we’re going simple and (hopefully) easy! Just make your best period dish, and bring it to the Main Hall (Big Kitchen) by 2pm. There will be 3-5 judges tasting all the foods and declaring the winner.
Bonus points for documentation of your item, but this is not required for entry!
Come one and come all! Please join us for Youth and Family activities! Activities will be focused on banner making and its history. We will have a variety of crafts as well as a special scavenger hunt where youth have a chance to win a special prize, war points, and recognition at Saturday evening court!
Please remember that all youth must be accompanied by a supervising parent while they participate in family activities.
Medieval and Renaissance flower symbolism and seed swap. Come learn some associations your persona might have shared about common flowers (and fruits/vegetables), which can be useful for scribal, culinary, textile, and other arts, as well as just being fun/interesting! We can also share/exchange seeds and talk about medieval gardening if anyone is so inclined.

10/2025 thoughts: This post was a hard one to navigate. Coming out of COVID, a lot of things rose in cost, some dramatically, some only minorly, but overall, it was impactful. The first Banner War that I stewarded lost a fair amount of money due to these rising costs, and then I stepped up as the Exchequer that next winter, so it became my job to tell everyone that we were raising the costs for the camping events going forward. It did not…go over well, as predicted, but we eventually adjusted, and rallied, and the events have started to come back to life!
As everyone knows, costs are rising, and we have not been missed in this trend. While we don’t have a lot of costs for our camping events at the Masonic Family Park, the few we have are going up. As a result, at current, we are expecting to have to raise the Entrance Fees for these events.
Our Current Expected Pricing (subject to change as we continue to explore options, but are not expected to go any higher):
$50 ($5 discount for members) – Adult Weekend
$15 ($5 discount for members) – Youth (13-17) Weekend
$30 ($5 discount for members) – Adult Day Trip
$10 ($5 discount for members) – Youth (13-17) Day Trip
Children 12 and under are free.
Increases we know of:

We are discussing additional setup options for this in hopes of bringing down the costs
Other things to note:
We considered changing venues, but most other campgrounds are running $28+ per night.
Local LARP events are advertising at $50-$100 now.
Other baronies are experiencing similar issues (ie, sites becoming more expensive, or no longer being available/feasible at all)
We are still looking at ways to bring the event pricing down, without impacting the experience of our events.
The Barony is aware that this is not going to bring joy to many of our populace. We ask that you remember that we are doing everything in our power to bring these prices back down, including looking into other site options, but this is an arduous task, and will not only take time, but may ultimately be unfeasible (feel free to email/message me with suggestions for these things if you have any ideas). We are intending to have pre-registration for our camping events as we know this can help those with stricter budgets be able to plan their expenses, and can help the event team plan more specifically for attendance. (Shameless Open Plea for someone to apply for the open Reservations Deputy position to help me process these) We are as always open to feedback from the Populace regarding this, but do ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this change.

10/2025 Thoughts: This was my second ever post to the Barony of Aquaterra Unofficial Populace Page on Facebook. This was to wrap up my the first Event I stewarded, and I had no idea what I was supposed to say or do with my Social Posts at the time, since this was the first full event we’d had since COVID, and I wasn’t super active prior to COVID, so hadn’t been involved. I’ve learned a TON since this post, and I’ve come a long way on my journey!
“Oh man, what a weekend.
I took up the charge of Stewarding Banner War this year, and boy am I glad I did in so many ways.
This weekend was a whirlwind of activity. Aquaterra had not seen a War of the Banners in several years, so we weren’t entirely sure what it was going to look like. We had 200+ people through the gates in 2 days. We had events planned throughout the weekend as normal, and at first I was a little worried that some of the events did not seem to be getting as much attention as usual, and I started to panic that I had done this all wrong. And then I got to walking around all the campsites, and figured out that everyone was too busy having a grand time catching up, telling tales, and just being around each other, so the events weren’t the star this weekend. The people were.
And oh how amazing the people were. I was not at a loss for people wanting to help, and the populace really made this whole thing come together. Thank you all SO MUCH for making my first event such a blinding success. We only had 2 houses compete, but the competition was FIERCE.
House Hraefensheim (I really hope I spelled that right) came strong with their new house, and made their presence known. They also held a wonderful memorial for a pillar of our community, and I’m so grateful that they took that on themselves, and many memories were shared, and love was felt by all.
House Keypoint was the fiercest of competitors with their team of valiant mercenaries, and put forth a great battle of the wills, bodies, and minds across all areas of “combat”
In the end – it was a tie in the points of War, and I was in no way prepared for a split vote, so it came down to a toss of the coin. House Keypoint officially took the win, but being the good gentles they all are, graciously offered to split the loot with their brethren from not so afar.
Good times were had by all.
In the middle of all of this, my amazing partner of a handful of years proposed me in a private moment, and the rest of the event was basically a blur. So MANY MANY memories were made and more relived this weekend, and I want to give a GIANT shoutout to the Barony of Aquaterra for making my first event as a Steward as amazing as it was!!!
10/2025 thoughts: This was my first ever post to the Barony of Aquaterra Unofficial Populace Page. I had taken up Stewarding Banner War, but I didn’t realize how much you really needed to be pushing your event on all the social spaces in order to get people the info, so I spent a lot of time responding to private messages before I made this post. Looking back now – I still feel like I actually had done a decently good job of getting the info out before the event started, I just didn’t get it out early or often enough.
